A Christian Bestiary – the Griffin

“As night fell we came ashore and after giving thanks to The Lord for our safe landfall, we encamped. With Maximus, our guardian Templar, keeping an ever watchful eye, the local tribesmen entertained us with stories of a fabulous beast they called the griphis, which they said lived far to the north. It was described as both eagle and lion and was said to guard a great treasure.

My prince, in just this way is Our Lord fully human and fully divine, king of both heaven and earth, and through Him we are heirs to the treasure of eternal life.”
